Sharing is caring
Unsplash the website a lot of creatives around the world visit to find photographs and inspiration to use for both personal and commercial purposes. The pictures are free to use and it’s remarkable that the quality and emotion of these freebies beat websites where you have to pay like Shutterstock or iStock. I’ve used it tons over the years and felt it was time I gave back to the community so I uploaded a few of my photos.
What I didn’t expect was the overwhelming response the photos got. They’ve been used in books, exhibits and renowned social media accounts like Inertia and people have even donated money even though the pictures are free to use.
At the moment they been viewed around 50 million times and downloaded 500 000 times. The pictures I uploaded was based on the kind of photos I often looked for in my line of work. In this instance being right in the target audience and fulfilling a certain need is an important lesson for all kinds of projects. I’ll be more than happy to share more of my work in the future when the need rises.
